"Robber" jacks (without sampling) two Robert Armani tracks - the bassline is from "Ambulance" and the riff is from "Circus Bells". A pair of jacks.

A few records came out around this time with Masters At Work and Mood II Swing remixes. Masters At Work were at the peak of their game while Mood II Swing haven't really found their sound yet, here they are copying Mark Kinchen and the production is not ... Leggi la recensione per intero

The track "Timequake" is a kind of cover version of Planetary Assault System's "Booster" off Planetary Funk Vol. 4. I wish this kind of thing would happen more often.

Well, apparently they appear on this "official" website. Though the webpage looks black to me, maybe because I don't have Flash:

Sounds terrible to my ears. Too much bass, too loud, the sound distorts. It's playable but it's just not the subtle and lush masterpiece as mixed by Walter Gibbons at Blank Studios.

Excellent tune that can be obtained much cheaper on Feel Tha Vibe / Jus Keep On Pressin On without the "didn't I show you love" sample.

Is this the most obscure techno label? Nobody has these records except the last few releases. None of the artists have releases on other label. You can find some tracks on Kajaani Issues - Teil 1/2 and Kajaani Issues - Teil 2/2 but they are unlabeled so I have no idea how they relate ... Leggi la recensione per intero

As far as I can tell every release is a three tracker with two hard techno tracks and one fast paced electro track.

All about "Proof Of The Long Dark Night" for me. Builds nicely from looped chords over a straight ahead house beat with a snappy snare. A pretty melody comes in toward the end. . The other tracks are too clothed in the glitch aesthetic.

I don't think much of the originals but the Tensnake remix on Fresh04 and Isolee remix on Fresh05 are really good, trippy minimal house with memorable hooks.

An excellent EP of varied tracks, I liked it more than ten years ago and I like now. A1 is techno with warm chords and cute melodies. A2 is melodic slower paced electro like Bitstream or Gosub. B1 is a solid piece of Rob Hood or Surgeon-like techno. B2 ... Leggi la recensione per intero

More experiments in combining reggae and techno from Bandulu, here on "Changing World" which definitely takes more from techno. The vocal reminds me of On-U Sound productions - very filtered and an exotic feel, you can barely tell it's in English. But ... Leggi la recensione per intero

"Presence" has a booming kick and some sounds that have a lot of delay on it and a resonator or something similar, it does have that Basic Channel feel. Still, very much the sound of its time. But there's this insistent organ-like sound that makes the ... Leggi la recensione per intero

Funny how time works. This first release by Moby holds up better than anything else he released in the 90's. You could put "Mobility" in a set today and I doubt anyone would notice it's from 1990. Reminds me of Carl Craig's work around the same time as ... Leggi la recensione per intero

All three tracks are pretty similar. The main difference between B1 and B2 is that the latter dispenses with the MC Kinky vocal. A1 adds more rave samples (I think I spot a piece of "Dancehall Dangerous" in there) and contains almost no vocals from ... Leggi la recensione per intero

You are just wrong. This is a really solid EP that has a nice mix of techno and hardcore. Kind of slow for 1992 but America was a little behind the times. I like playing Braindead at 45, it has a nice breakdown with wailing vocals and sounds like that ... Leggi la recensione per intero

What to do? what to do? None of the tracks on the album do anything for me, it's just taking up space on my shelf. But the bonus 10" is really great! "AM Trip" is like a budget "Acid Eiffel" and "Lost In The Silver Box" is a banger.

"Break M Up" sounds like an AFX or Black Dog track - a bunch of layered breaks, a spacey bassline and in the middle of the track a rather pretty synth appears for a minute or two wandering about. It's a lot more than I expect from a bargain bin techno ... Leggi la recensione per intero

Despite the name, this has nothing to do with Trance as commonly understood (synth arpeggios, 140 bpm beat etc.). So, no, it's not one of the first trance albums. It does sound a little bit ahead of its time. "Impulse" has a tough electro beat similar to ... Leggi la recensione per intero

Jay Denham's signature is a very deep, bassy kick drum with a long release. Sometimes it sounds like all the air is sucked out of the room. I don't mean it like a it's a bad thing. He really hit his stride in the late 90's, in my opinion, found his ... Leggi la recensione per intero

I disagree. "Confusion" is totally unremarkable but "Blue Monday" is a nice twist on the original. The bassline is liquid and is quite true to the late 80's acid house sound which was more freewheeling. And I find the vocal sample very addictive. I would ... Leggi la recensione per intero
