ノート
The original album had an outer sleeve which was made to look like a plain brown paper bag. Each cover showed an alternate angle of a man in a bar. The scenario has been photographed from 6 different viewpoints within the bar and then 6 different sleeve variations have been created (with the letters A - F at the top of the spine denoting each variation). The inner sleeve features a 'magic' ink in different colours which appear on the design when gently wetting.

Good album, very cool how when moistened they reveal themselves to have pastel hues!

Love this album. John Paul Jones had more control on this and presence, but this record is the stronger one. In the Evening and Carouselambra are the strongest songs with amazing guitar bridges that are unique for led zeppelin's sound. The keyboard is awesome as well.

It was a much anticipated album when it was released. Apparently it was recorded in Abba'a studios in Scandinavia which was definitely different for a rock band like Led Zeppelin.
It was mostly well received when it came out but a lot of fans thought it was overly commercial and lacked the 'balls' of the earlier efforts from the band. I would tend to agree. I think the songs-with the exception of "In The Evening" were overly commercial and not really the stuff that rock is made of. Carouselambra was like a guide for how not to do a rock track with a prominent keyboard part for anyone thinking of doing one. I have listened to a number of bootlegs of Zeppelin's Germany concerts in 1980 before the band folded due to the untimely passing of John Bonham and there is a lot of variation in the handful of shows the band did. After Germany they were supposed to head off to North America on tour. The last Led Zeppelin concert was done in Berlin and it was a poor showing for Jimmy Page whose playing in that particular show was often weak and sloppy. Robert Plant et al were in fine form as far as I could tell but if your guitar player is making all kinds of mistakes you've got problems a a band. ITTOD is regarded as one of the all time classic rock albums. I think the album is an intentional 'girl pleaser' with softer tracks designed-I think-to appeal to teenage girls rather than the album catering to a predominantly male hard rock audience.
