I am not sure if is just my pressing but it sounds a bit over amplified. As if the input level was too high during recording. Even sounding distorted during louder passages.

This is thee classic jazz album that brought the world to bossa nova. "The Girl From Ipanema" was an out right success due to the cool soft playing of the Tenor Saxophone from Stan Getz and the beautiful strings of João Gilberto. I've seen plenty reviews about this album and most critics can not stand Astrud's singing and wish it were left out. Granted she doesn't have the best female voice in jazz but she did add an innocent-girl feel to it. The other songs are all great and "Desafinado" became the other hit from this album and even Charlie Byrd went on to cover this track. It's simple, if your new to bossa nova jazz, buy this first.
There is a story behind the earnings that the artists received from this albums success. Stan went on to buy the sister of George Gershwin's 23-room mansion, while João Gilberto earned just $23,00 and Astrud and mere $125.
