Marvin Gaye – What's Going On

Definitely worth owning a copy of this single if you love the album both sides were drawn from. The slightly different a side version is nice, but the totally different b-side version of god is love is amazing!

The B-side (Retromix) is the A side Mix vocals in reverse.

Yes everybody has the original version of this classic .. however - the Chicago kid version tucked away on the flip side of this 10" is killer .. the opening few bars of drums and bass will blow you away ..it should have been the lead track ... if you don't own it get ASAP because soon enough the world is gonna wake up to this record and the price is gonna jump ..

"GTGIU" as featured on and taken from "Live At The London Palladium" album is NOT a live recording and was NEVER part of that Palladium performence fact.
The track was recorded at Gaye's home studio and had claps and backing overdubbed (as per The Beach Boys Barbara Ann) it was added and included by Gaye to beef the live set up)
and that recording ran to over 11 and 1/2 minutes! This "version" is 5 minutes shorter.
and clearly an edit OR could this indeed be a later live recording from where???? NOTHING stated anywhere on the labels! Buy with caution!
Not since Dave Clark took over ownership of Ready Steady Go video tapes and performances by DC5 added and the DC5 play good ol' Rock And Roll 45s with the fake added screaming have we had such a scam lol trying to rewrite history!

Oh dear just sonically checked this, "WGO" is sadly mono dispite what the label states "HITTGV" is in it's true stereo mix.
Clearly an RCA/Ariola gaff guess the 12" will be the same, unless someone has and can confirm the sonics.

This is the same as "Marvin Gaye MARVIN 001" ... Supposedly by Masters At Work ? ... I´m not too sure bout that :) ... I´ve heard about a 1000 M.A.W. productions, and if this is M.A.W. then they had a royal hoot & some beers in the studio :) ... This Single sided 12" is just the drum loop from the "Todd Terry" mix of "EBTG" - "Missing", with bits of "Marvin" filterd in here n there, don't get me wrong, it´s fun & useful, but it´s NOT Masters At Work Quality :) ... Still a cheeky, catchy 12" ... The video here to your right is also pitched up a lot compared to the original Vinyl speed :) ... // Tommy
