Pet Sounds is the 11th studio album by The Beach Boys, originally released on May 16, 1966 in Mono and Duophonic mixes. The Mono mix is available on the 1990 CD reissue and The Pet Sounds Sessions, which also includes a complete stereo remix of the whole album. Both mixes are also available on a 2001 CD reissue. A 5.1 surround sound mix is available on a DVD-A of the album. The Duophonic mix is unavailable on digital formats.

Pet Sounds was initially met with a lukewarm critical and commercial response in the US, peaking at number 10 on Billboard's LP chart. In the UK, the album was lauded by critics and reached number 2 on the Top 40 album chart, remaining in the top ten for six months. Promoted in the UK as "the most progressive pop album ever," Pet Sounds garnered recognition for its ambitious production, sophisticated music, and emotional lyric content. It is considered to be among the most influential albums in music history.

WOW.... earth shaking bass, crystalline highs. Never heard this classic sound as insanely good as this. Flat and quiet and packed in a glossy tip on. THIS is why i persist with this oft frustrating hobby

Agree w TedsterT. This pressing sounds fabulous. You most likely know the album and the differences between the mono and stereo mix. This presentation of the mono mix works really well. You can better detect separation of instruments and there is plenty of detail in the vocals. "Fascinating listening" is right on.

What a weird pressing. A lot of UK mono pressings of American albums from this time period were indeed stereo fold downs. I guess someone at the plant realized "Oh shit, what do you mean Pet Sounds doesn't have a stereo mix???", and then requested a copy of the actual mono mix after a whole bunch of the duophonic folds were already pressed and put on the shelves.

Still in stock for $30 on acoustic sounds as of writing. I agree with everyone here this is the best version to have. I was taken aback how good this was knowing (or thought I knew) that it wasn't super well recorded originally. Same master as the vinyl at a fraction of the cost, plus you get mono and stereo on one disc

This is it. SHOCKED nobody has reviewed this pressing! Thisis a "hot" pressing. This is Brian Wilson's Masterpiece, and hearing it will make you feel better. Every sound is clear, strong, and vivid. the vocals are balanced to the instruments. the BASS, Oh my word. It is punchy and then some. This is one of the greatest pieces of music put down to record.
I have several mono pressings of this LP, and this Stereo version blows it out of the water! Do yourself a favor...find one of these Green label pressings from 71...RIP Brian

This appears to be a true stereo copy based on my ears. The quality is fantastic for being on a paper-thin record. Dynamics are decent and there's absolutely no surface noise on my nm copy.
