Unique to be released by this famous German label, famous for classical music.
Anyhow: the pressing was not too good.

Hearing it now again (…with some surface noise) it has to be said (as others did before): a wonderful album .
A tiny masterpiece.
Perfect when it’s cold outside . Intimate 
This perfect, beautiful and wonderfully sad album is 20 years old. It needs a full reissue with the bonus songs ("North" is too lovely a song to leave off.)- This is a fantastic album that went unnoticed by the buying public. This album is a perfect evening listen, and the pressing is quiet and warm.
This will enter heavy rotation now that I’ve given myself more time with it. - After he was born in Liverpool in 1955 as Declan MacManus, debuted ' angry young man ' Elvis Costello (it is a stage name!) in 1977 with the impressive My Aim Is True. This was followed by a series of strong new wave, pop and rock albums he alternately solo or with his backing group The Attractions. In the eighties and nineties, he made various musical outings direction (o.a.) country & western, classical, film music and vocal jazz. So he worked with Paul McCartney, The Chieftains, Burt Bacharach, Anne Sofie Von Otter and the Brodsky Quartet. The latter String Quartet is once again present on North (2003) and if you know the cd is released on the Deutsche Grammophon label, it would be a logical conclusion are that it is a classical cd. After listening, we must, however, an extension of the albums North places Painted From Memory (Bacharach) and For The Stars (with Von Otter). Elvis played here: twelve brand new ballads, which he composed at the piano piece by piece. The musical accompaniment is tasteful and varied: sometimes very sober, then again pleasant jazzy or exuberant orchestral. Happy remains in all songs the voice of (the more beautiful singing!) Costello, so that we can call North a new milestone in the impressive career of Elvis Costello.
