David Bowie – Station To Station

Oh, the Thin White Duke! In dynaflex, no less! Lure me with your sweet siren song!

What went wrong here? The rest of Bowie's Parlophone represses sound absolutely fantastic, but this... the overall sound is great, but almost EVERY single song skips (aside from Stay and Wild is the Wind, somehow, and they sound the best here as a result). The worst offender is the title track, which had 11 (yes, really) separate skips! Seems to happen during the more instrumentally demanding moments in the album, but it sucks. Plus, unlike other albums, the sound gets noticably shitty towards the end of Side 1, almost as bad as a low-bitrate MP3 file. I hope the next copy I try fares better...

my copy has wrong label on A-Side. Pressing is correct, however the label on A-Side is the label for A-Side of Ziggy Stardust instead, not STS

Pleased with majority of the tracks, but there is a lot of inner-grove distortion on Word On A Wing - red color is pretty, just wish the sound was a bit better.

Lot's of skips...must be a hot mix...words, words, words..very disappointed

Side A pressed very off-centre on my copy, unfortunately.

To my ears in my system, the mastering is a little strident (and bass-light); the imaging not particularly solid or the soundstage particularly 3-D.

YMMV. Others seem to love it.

By far the worst pressing I have in my collection. Skips endlessly and loops. Stay away from this horrible pressing.

I've been spoiled by having this press be my first introduction to this album - everything else sounds lifeless in comparison. Punchy drums and bass. Beginning of Bowie's best stretch of albums.

My red vinyl copy sounds spectacular. I haven't heard Wild is the Wind sound better than this.
