The Stranglers – Feline

On my lyrics sheet, the band logo is red. My side A and side B runouts end with "DM-3".

This is a superbly warm and sharp pressing - both attributes are highly evident on playback.
I'm surprised as coloured vinyl usually loses the rich tones and can suffer with surface noise - not here!!
In fact, I'd go as far to say this is the best pressing I've heard yet!
May more people fall in love with this much maligned and overlooked masterwork.

got my copy (made in Poland) this morning and it's a kind of pink transparent on both reconds, Not even close to red but I like it. Sound is very good, no clicks or noise. Great re-issue 5/5

Got my copy today and both records are just a transparent clear vinyl with a touch of peachy red to it, faint hint of marbling, better described as transparent peach vinyl .

Decent re-issue, mastering is very good, artwork is matt and nice, both records are indeed marbled and half-transparent, the main album is based on transparent red and the bonus record on transparent pink (at least in my own copy). Plays wonderful. I would prefer the embosed panther on the front cover, too, but I'm quite satisfied with the sound quality! (I wish the Duran Duran 2XLP remastered re-issue sounded as good as this - that was a disappointment). Recommended for those who don't like the ultra-loud "remastered" (and brickwalled) CDs.

The Stranglers catalogue needs a full quality remastering/reissue program. They did a great job on the remastered CDs from a few yrs back and id be quite happy to have them on vinyl too. Ironically, Feline is one of their catalogue that DID have a reissue from the superb Music On Vinyl label a decade or so ago and its a truly excellent reissue. So how does this compare?..... pressing wise this is ok but the MOV is better. Where this has two warped discs (playable but only just in the case of disc 2 which is bad) the MOV is flat as can be. Where this is a quietish pressing (side two is quite whooshy and crackly/clicky) the MOV is notably quieter throughout. Where this has a gatefold its as cheap and low rent and basic as can be whereas the MOV while being a single sleeve has that glossy feel with the embossed matte panther and feels abit more special, kinda like a plusher version of the original. I do quite like the look of these discs on a clear acrylic platter mind!! Mastering wise is another win for the MOV... its alot more ALIVE and dynamic, the instrumentation and percussion is alot more so and its also more 3D with the sounds swirling around more notably. The new issue is by comparison abit quieter, more polite and smooth but plays things safe... its like a good digital remaster. The MOV definately needs the better needle to shine though as sssibilance and veer toward hotness is more likely... nude elliptical as a minimum whereas the new issue is ok with a bonded 2M red needle because its not as hot and smoother/politer in nature anyway. Overall im certainly in no hurry to move on my MOV copy and it remains my reference but its alot pricier and far harder to come by than this new one at the moment and i feel the vinyl colour and better bonus disc tracks gives this one a reason to be cherished too if you get a good copy. I will be honest and say i returned two copies of this before settling on the third as the first two just seemed too noisy and warped. One final note is this reissue is labelled on the sticker as a Deluxe edition yet theres no booklet or notes or anything the OG didnt posess bar some non essential 2nd disc tracks. If anything again the MOV has a more special feel.

Overall the MOV is the winner for me but this is alot cheaper and sounds quite ok so if you get a well pressed one it should keep you happy!

A high quality product. Faultless pressing sounds brilliant on my Rega 3. Packaging is beautiful and sturdy ( although pity the panther is not embossed like the original ! 🤣) but best to put vinyls into HDPE sleeves.

I’m not seeing much marble in the colour. Nice package though

This pressing also has the embossed cover. But is doesn't have an inner sleeve.

This is a nice the Stranglers album and sounds crisp and good.
