The debut album by The Clash was originally released on LP in the UK in April 1977 [14 tracks] and across the Atlantic in July 1979 with 15 tracks [updated with new recordings and initially with an additional bonus 7" single not available separately]. After an early Japanese release, CD editions followed the US edition first, to be replaced with remasters of the original sequence.

      Got a flat copy at reasonable price. Though I think the sleeve could have been thicker, the inner is great addition, the reproduction on the art is top notch (obviously, they didn't just scan any old LP), and the difference in remastered sound with my original 1980 repress makes it a nice addition to my collection and to compare to the original. I was too young to have money to buy it when it first appeared and I listened to it on a dubbed tape from a friend for two years, until I was able to gather enough coins returning used bottles from the dustbin in my neighbourhood, to actually buy it two years later. Yes, I paid it all with coins. This one with a credit card, which ain't so punk rock, but hey, Punk died the day CBS signed The Clash! ;)

        I bought this album second hand, years ago. It was only recently that I tracked down a clean copy of the 45 to reunite with it. Patience pays off.

          A solid 4/5 stars from me. I don’t have other pressings to compare this to but it is mixed and mastered the way I imagine a punk record that was released in 1977 was meant to sound. My copy is dead quiet and I’m happy with the SQ. It also helps I bought my copy for 75% off during a Boxing Day sale.

            Definitely the best sounding version of this album on cd imo, nice low end and the drums sound nice and punchy.

              I bought a sealed copy of Give 'em Some Rope and found this pressing of the st album inside instead of the correct one.

                Anyone know how many of these might have been pressed? I have a copy (bought in The Basement, Dublin), but it seems very odd that so many errors were in track titles.

                  Great cut, great pressing, very happy with this one. Not sure how different it is to the other pink transparent version, but I’d guess they’re the same lacquer.

                    Another piece of shit repress, this time of one of the great albums of all time...what an embarrassment. Total lack of care or love in this production, the jacket is way oversized, with the record rattling around in it, and it doesn't even fit into a standard plastic record bag. It's all about the money these days...avoid at all costs!

                      I just scored a sealed copy with -G1A/-G1F matrices. No Nice Price circular hype sticker.

                      How does this anonymous remaster compare with the original/1979 issue cut at Sterling Sound? My only experience with the early 1980s -G1 series is the remaster of Bridge Over Troubled Water on silent vinyl, which sounds mighty fine to my ears.

                      * update:
                      The good: As expected, 1980s Nice Price budget line era vinyl is excellent.
                      The bad: No bass, compressed to hell, probably sourced from a tape copy. Sounds mid-fi. I can deal with the mid-fi, as it has its own charm. But this remaster was cut at such a low volume that I have to crank this mutha up which is a dealbreaker. ;-(
