It's true, CD 2 is a hodgepodge of things... the oddities are appreciated but it would be better with a bit of coherence. Now, for my taste they haven't found the perfect sound for this tremendous album, the 1991 US version that I have sounds flat... and this remastering from 2013 is too compressed (if you listen to it with headphones after a while it ends up overwhelming your ears), it would be missing a middle ground between the two... a shame.

Everything about this album is more or less perfect from the inspired songs, production and lyrics, to the lovely artwork. It was released not longer after 808 State's seminal ex:el album. There is definite reason why that period in time have been dubbed Madchester, it was not just a fluke, it was a movement.

Sonically this is a 'decent' pressing. I deducted a star (maybe it should be two) for the B side, where a pressing defect causes my cartridge to sway slightly without any noticeable effect on the music until the final inner track, where the pitch undulates. I also noticed a 'pop' at the end of the A1, which an anti-static brush and multiple pad & cleaner passes couldn't remove (but very slightly reduced in volume). Hopefully, your copy won't do the same as mine. I'll keep this until I can find a reasonably-priced 'Red cover' copy.

In the original vinyl pressing, some countries decided to include "Getting Away With It" (Brazil, Mexico) as A5 track of vinyl instead of "Gangster" (UK). In the 2020 vinyl remaster, both tracks are included - https://www.discogs.com/release/14686331-Electronic-Electronic

Bought this at the end of 2019 from Amazon U.S.A. Have had the CD since it came out in the early 90’s and if a CD could have worn out from playing it, this one would qualify. Nice to to have this on vinyl and although it’s digitally sourced, the vinyl experience is hands down better than the CD. With each side at or over 25 minutes, sound quality is still very dynamic with excellent bass throughout. “Get The Message” has some serious low bass best enjoyed with a good quality powered subwoofer(s). This plays excellent with very little “noise” and best enjoyed at a higher than normal volume. : )

Well - a tepid vinyl remaster. A beautiful product, but there is no way this adds anything to a digital copy of the record.

One of my favourite albums of the early nineties. So much better than New Orders "Republic". The UK original pressing sounds fantastic.

"Remastered in November 1993" - a mere 2 years after the original came out - you cannot be serious

Well, no one has really commented on the quality of the pressing and remaster... so here it is: both are excellent, go git it!
