Toto – Toto IV

The grooves on mine seem to be pressed slightly off center -- I can hear the pitch kinda start to fluctuate near the end of each side.

Can anybody inform about the quality of this pressing? Thanks.

Poor, off-centre pressing. B5 Africa is seriously out of tune.

I am not a fan of this vinyl pressing. The high frequencies are not extended very well, ruining an album that was recorded with excellent recording equipment. The vocals, in particular, sound cloudy due to the lack of high frequency extension in the mastering. If you are going to buy this album, you should definitely buy the US pressing.

I really don't understand how this is so cheap but the sound quality is unmatched if you can find one in good condition. A must have if you like Africa

Comparing the TML vs Japan vs Speakers Corner vs Chris Bellam cut, the Friday Music edition takes the cake. The Speakers Corner edition suffered from some sibilance, which Kevin Gray has masterfully contained on this release. Ignore the below comments regarding muffled bass - they are simply not factual. Bass and drums are clear and defined and sound fantastic. Super-warm mastering, great gatefold artwork, and a reasonably clean pressing by RTI, round out the perfect release.

Absolute trash pressing. Ultrasonically cleaned twice and sounds like rice krispies.

Obviously a great recording, fun remaster to add to the collection.

Just compared the STERLING with this TML. There is a noticeable difference, the TML is a quite magnificent pressing.

This is the pressing I have of this album, I bought at a local record shop in VG+ condition for £8, but I'm quite disappointed with the sound. It sort of sounds a bit muffled compared to what i'm used to hearing. I did clean it a couple of times and the sound didn't really improve. The vinyl itself is nice and quiet. Usually UK pressings of original pressings are quite strong and I have a large number that sound great. It isn't the worst pressing of any album I've ever heard but theres just something about it that isn't right. The cymbal crashes and the tribal sounding beat of Africa usually sounds a lot brighter. What pressing should I get (preferably an OG and not too much money). Thanks!
