Alanis Morissette – Havoc And Bright Lights

Got this brand new at my local record store for $25! Truly an exceptional vinyl! Very little noise, no pops and a game changer in sound design! This is why vinyl exists!!!

I picked up a copy today and it’s absolutely dead silent and not warped at all which is nice for a change (many new pressings are subpar unfortunately). In terms of sound, yeah it’s very similar to the original master which sucks since that was really awfully done. But at least you can pick up this copy and not fear any pops and/or clicks which is better than nothing I guess.

Great Turquoise color and it sounds pretty good too. Different color labels on records 1 and 2 are a nice touch.

To my ears this pressing sounds excellent, flawless and quiet. It definitely also adds to the pleasure that the package is exquisitely manufactured with fine, glossy cardboard.

Very curious how this reissue sounds. I avoided getting the original pressing because of the quality issues reported with the pressing and lower rating. Hope someone that has bought it already can give some thoughts on it.

Crap pressing. Tons of snap/crackle/pops and overall surface noise. It doesn't help that the original mastering of this album was terrible. Stick to the already mediocre quality of the CD/digital formats.

Alanis Morissette was once the leading lady of the rock. After her successful album Jagged Little Pill (1995) jumps the crying ladies on a bed of hard guitars like mushrooms out of the ground. The cd with the monster hit Ironic in the ranks is never matched, also by Morissette itself does not. Of its pioneering role is little more about anyway in 2012. Her last big hit, Hands Clean, is already more than ten years old. On her eighth album Havoc And Bright Lights is no single number that infectious enough to grow into a hit single. Her albums remain popular enough to high in the charts. This is because the Canadian singer her passionate texts without prejudice to combines with driven guitar work. The electronics where producer Guy Sigsworth on Flavors Of Entanglement (2008) already careful with it was coming up, also pops up occasionally on now. A difficult attempt at a little to modern kinks? Morissette are desperate for new ideas, all is Havoc And Bright Lights no plate to be ashamed of. Not innovative enough to really to stay relevant, robust to old fans of alienating.
