King Crimson – Discipline

I have owed countless versions of this since it’s 1981 release, and this is by far the best-sounding, most immersive version I have ever heard. It even betters the recent LP re-issue taken from the same Steve Wilson remix masters. Stunning.

Amazing album. I can see why King Crimson are the kings of prog rock. So many unique approaches and albums to check out. Red was a landmark in it's own way. To be balanced by Island just released a year away from it, is groundbreaking. Discipline is another level too in another way. I can see how Belew sort of merged a bit of funk into King Crimson from coming off his working with Talking Heads. Also the spoken verses reminds me of David Byrne. Anyways, his addition is a perfect balance for the re-invented and different direction to King Crimson. Belew's performance is powerful enough to balance Robert Fripp's input. And that balance is what produces the magic. You can clearly hear how this band would inspire later bands. I can hear a Primus, Alice and Chains and Rage against the machine in these track easily.

Great solo album by Adrian Belew with help from Fripp, Bruford and Levin!
... Balls! I'm joking! But Belew definitely dominates this album! As a "Talking Head"? I also hear a good dose of King Sunny Ade in parts! Great contributions by the other three make this fine piece of work a new prog wave monster in it's own way! (Followed by another two of a perfect pair in the same manner.)

This album is wonderful, one of the coolest works by this crazy band, probaly the best guitar I ever heard on any rock album, also how not to mention Tony Levin's bass and Bill Brufford that I already learned to love with its contribute with The Yes.

Put the LP on your turntable, drop the needle, crank up the volume on your amplifier and let the magic begin.

Very nicely done. Everything shines well here. and quiet too!

It sounds alright, a tiny bit sharp in sound but that could be due to the dust accumulated in storage :)

From the First Tune you are bound and wait for small things you did not have discovered yet. Played an a full Philips Black Tulip Set from 1981 with GP-422 Cartridge.
