Bouwmeester Record

Dutch Shellac record label exploited by Louis Bouwmeester jr. (1884-1931). He was a Dutch actor, but was more busy producing revues and managing 2 theatres. One of the theatres was called Scala (in The Hague).
It must have been the connection of the name Scala that made Bouwmeester decide to produce records with the English Scala Record Co. Ltd under his own name; the first Bouwmeester records however were released under the label Scala (9). Bouwmeester Records were released from 1921 onwards.
