Tidy have, like most labels, got their good and their bad. In most cases, the tunes are very commercial hard dance, and are basically just tools for ammature DJs to toy with. Whether the kids spin hard house, hard trance or even techno, tidy is there to provide for them! But, every now and then, like most labels, even Tidy Trax has it's moments!
It must be said that this label doesn't always pull it off in terms of quality output (unfortunately all the decent material is put into it's secondary label, Tidy Two which I much prefer), yet for the true lovers of Hard House Tidy certainly offer their fans a 1st class service. The Tidy Weekenders are some of the best clubbing events I've ever experienced, and I suppose the slightly cheesey, commercial side to this label can be forgiven by the sheer numbers it attracts - Tidy has one of the biggest Hard Dance fanbases in the world, and the Tidy events never fail to pull in big crowds. And with the commercially succesful release of JX's new single 'Restless', Tidy is set to be drawing in more followers; the single has already made it into the Radio One B lists, a considerable feat for a track from a more underground setup. Overall, a pretty good and not to say hugely successful label.
One must have respect for the label wich paved a great deal of the hardhouse path that lies before us today. BUT, with the changing times hardhouse has evolved...more cunning, more devious, HARDER, sadly, Tidy has not. As i see it their aim is nothing more than to fill a already overcrowded market with commercial releases and label it as 'hardhouse' so it sells to the kiddies.
I must agree in saying that a few years ago, the tracks this label was putting out rated fairly high in the cheese scale. But then again, almost every label you see nowadays has some pretty cheesy tracks. Tidy has grown up though. Their new sound is much harder than before. Definitely up there with Nukleuz, but Nukleuz is a force to be reckoned with, being the #1 Hard Dance label. All in all, Tidy is still a great label and I own a decent amount of their stuff, definitely worth the money.
tidy is a label that reminds me why i got into this scene, just striaght up hard, kickin' trax, and perfect for the peak of your night, and perfect for wakin up to. best label out there second to maybe hooj.
