Like expected, there are those that feel entitled to voice their opinions regarding Danny as somehow this 'Over indulged' character in the Drum & Bass/Jungle game because he 'Got Boring' for them, or that Good Looking didn't continue in a more diversified way as if the label owes them something. The problem often is in life, is that people feel short-changed as if they themselves had created a label, that they themselves took an art-form and steered it into a unique lane, drew together creative artists with a similar aesthetic at a time when a large proportion of the genre was just churning out (among some good stuff) a hell of a lot of unimaginative hackneyed jungle & breaks, with a unhealthy obsession with keeping everything 'Hard n' Dark' or 'Buzzin On Cloud Nine'. As a DJ myself at the time, the last thing you wanted to hear was more of this stuff, let alone have a choice out of the genre of really cool, introspective music that you could listen to at home - not simply 'Come-down' music or ambient forms of the genre. Because he was at the creative forefront of this, simply by choosing to play what he wanted, it is the punters who create this disingenuous narrative that seems to think he needs holding to account somehow. He did what he wanted successfully, set up a great label and simply by being unique among a sea of DJ's (including those considered the best-of-the-best) who played out the same typical sound (albeit some getting better tracks from that sound and/or getting hold of dub-plates easier) and often the same tracks on every mixtape, even those with a bit more depth and variation. The same people complaining, are the same one's who had this alternative given to them, and had their minds and ears open to a whole new interesting avenue at the time for a good few years. After that time, the whole industry became more pigeon-holed in general as it became more of a commodity in club land and corporately - as did all the genres of music. Bukem left a legacy that said you can go against the grain, raise expectations and quality in the genre. The fact that the label did not continue should be welcomed by those complaining it started to get a bit pedestrian itself, and maybe should consider that Bukem himself acknowledged this, and moved on with his life enjoying his career that he deserved and carved out for himself - still going strong. An essential and vital label, unlike the opinions of those that contributed nothing to the scene, many of whom are simply downloading music for free retroactively anyway

Superb label from the main man LTJ which needs no introduction. The first 20 releases or so are absolute gold dust. The output towards the end of the 90s became tired , as the BPM increased so did the lack of creativity and quality control. There are still a few solid releases post millenium , but lets be honest its all about 1992-98 !

Used to play with LTJ and worked with BigBud for few years , such a legendary sound from those guys . The best D&b ever , people will listen this music in 2070 and beleive it was produce the week before . Bukem is a mystic music visionary , and GLR , LGR ... are the fruits of those visions . BIG UP to all those amarzing artists BigBud , Seba , rantoul , P.F.M. , MAkoto ... YOU are Legends . and R.I.P. I have a huge amount of respect for Bukem as a person who founded and nurtured the most influential record label in the jungle /drum and bass genre.The artists he signed and gave a platform to develop a sound that was futuristic, deep and in my opinion close to being spiritual. So glad I got to hear these tunes out back in the day some very fond memories. Such a shame it all went a bit sour with artists like Blame the fallout with Conrad and tax issues and as somebody else pointed out most tunes put out after 2000 didn't cut it for me.

got most of good looking records up to GLR 80W but then after that quality control goes out the window. The likes of Horizons, gord chord or PFM one and only,Blame etc list goes on amazing well thought out tunes. You listen to anything past 80 and to be honest pretty much the same amen beats. Such a shame. Ain't what it was.
