Rio was a subsidiary of Direct Records Ltd and later Doctor Bird.
Rio Records was started by William Rickard (a.k.a. Don Rickles) in 1963 and with the help of Denzil Dennis they started releasing ska music. The majority of their music was recorded in Jamaica by the producer King Edwards besides the tunes by Denzil Dennis and others like Milton Hamilton which were recorded in England. Denzil Dennis recorded 15 songs for Rio as Alan Martin (3).
