The Canadian branch of Columbia/CBS, operating under this name (and French name CBS Disques Canada Ltée) from 08 June 1976 until 14 December 1990, when it was renamed to Sony Music Entertainment (Canada) Inc. (previous name Columbia Records of Canada, Ltd. 1954-1976). Headquartered in Don Mills suburb of Toronto since 1960.

CBS Records Canada Ltd. / CBS Disques Canada Ltée printed date codes on their vinyl 12" releases from ca. 1977 to ca. 1989. The codes appear on the spine or in the fine print on the back cover preceding manufacturing credits. Not all releases have the date codes printed on them. The format is a letter followed by one or two digits indicating month and year as follows:

In some cases there may be a space (e.g., C 82) , a slash (e.g., D/87) or a dash (e.g., K-85) between the letter and the numbers - please enter as it appears on release in the BaOI section as Other. It is helpful to enter where it appears on the release (spine or back cover) in the description field. If there is no other conflicting information on the release, it is acceptable to use the date code for the month and year of release.
