Copied from inside sleeve of the CD’s: Streetwave – The First Three Years Vol. 1 Part 1 & Part 2:
This album is more than just the history of record company. It’s the history of a revolution, a revolution made by you, the British dance music audience – a revolution that changed the face of British teen life, as rock and pop records were systematically driven from the dance floors of the hippest clubs and replaced by soul, funk, hip hop and all the other incredible stylistic innovations of our music. Three and a bit years ago, when Streetwave released the first record on this album – Wish’s ‘Mr DJ’ [WAVEL 1] – dance music was regarded by the British record business as ‘a passing fad’, ‘a flash in the pan’, nothing to be taken seriously. Today, dance music is the fastest growing, most exciting form of youth music in the world. And you put it there!
That Streetwave has been part of this revolution makes me prouder and happier than mere words can express. Proud to have brought you such brilliant records and talented artists as are contained on this album; happy to know that Streetwave’s tastes in dance music are shared by so many people.
And I’ll give you promise. Streetwave has only just begun! If the last 3 years were exciting, the next 3 are going to be something else again! We’re going to keep bringing you the best in British and American dance music talent – constantly looking for emerging new stars while never forgetting the established artists who made our music what it is today – and taking those talents to the very top. Only that way will dance music continue to grow and evolve.
Stay tuned to this station! History is being made at Streetwave – and you’re part of it!
