- Edited 8 years agoWhat to say about Jay Denham's Black Nation imprint? maybe the most overtly political techno label ever? more so even than UR? the message was clear on the early releases, take the same attitude Public Enemy brought to hip-hop and apply it to techno. Back in 95/96 people wrote a lot of this stuff off as wonky-techno, but it's so much more, its electronic protest music at it's best, woefully underrated, but those first 3 years, that's a statement, pity so many just didn't get it...my tip, go back, listen, buy, this stuff will be more highly appreciated in time...redruM...head straight for BNR-220.
- Dope Detroit-based, minimal techno label.
Personal standouts, include: "Blackman - Impact 1" (1998), Vice - Asylum Seekers (1999) and "Psychic Warfare - Race Riot EP" (1995).
All 3 records, are Detroit gems, IMO. Don't sleep...
