Genosha Recordings was founded in 2003 by hardcore dissidents The Outside Agency. The first stirrings of Genosha occurred when the two members of TOA, Eye-D & DJ Hidden, met Patrick van Kerckhoven. He had always been a big fan of their work and told them he felt that they should be in a position to release more material and enjoy a higher level of creative control. He promptly offered them a chance to run their own label under the careful guidance of Cardiac Music and thus Genosha Recordings was born.
Genosha has functioned mostly as an outlet for The Outside Agency's own material, but over time a select few artists that complement or expand the Genosha's style have been signed to the label. Since its first release Genosha has become one of the most popular and influential labels in dark underground hardcore.
It is very hard to put a finger on Genosha's specific style or sound, but it is probably best described as relentless dark industrial hardcore with IDM and drum & bass influences. Most tracks average around 160 BPM but mild fluctuations from 130 to 240 BPM have been known to occur.
