Josh Carlson started this label as a way to release records for his friends' bands. The label gave way to a distribution operation (distro). Soon he gathered up so much stock that just doing the distro was becoming a bit burdensome. He decided he should open a store.

Rick Sinkiewicz joined Josh in 2007 and they opened a physical location for the store in Wallingford, CT (this was also the time in which Redscroll Records, LLC was made official). In November of 2020 Redscroll moved to a bigger location about a mile and a half away.

Up to this point, the focus of the label has been about underground music of a variety of genres from hardcore to drone on a local level.
