First of all the Label name was meant to be 'Precious Material' but due to an error when the info was given to the art department it ended up as 'Precious Materials'. The label name was corrected on the later releases.
The label was set up to release music being made for the pure love and not dance floor reaction. I wanted to give the artists total freedom to produce great music that you could listen to at home as well as a nightclub.
We at the Basement label also wanted the Artists to sample as little as possible so creating original material, Precious Material. Some of the releases are produced in the studio and some are Recorded live performances.
Looking back I am very proud of the output of this label, and at the time the label was being touted by the Press as one to watch. A diverse array of DJs from across the board loved the label, and the label received a lot of Radio & Club play from DJs such as John Peel, Pete Tong, Giles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Mixmaster Morris, Judge Jules, LTJ Bukem, Grooverider, Fabio, Doc Scott and many more.
Over the coming months I will upload all of the tracks that are missing and a brief history on each release.
