An independent French record label of the mid 1970's established by Jean-Claude Pognant, a top rock and prog promoter in France since the 1960's.
The majority of the label was French progressive rock, although there were a few pop titles and a some non-French releases.
Arcane was marketed by Eurodisc. The label design was black print and red logo on an off-white background. The original 87 series was short-lived. In 1976, with distribution via WEA, a new 91 series was launched. LP's with 87 catalogue numbers inside covers with 91 catalogue numbers are common, as are originals with WEA distribution stickers attached.
During its last months Arcane changed distribution to RCA with a yellow label. After that it was renamed Crypto.
