- Edited 7 years agoMusic For Dreams? Is there actually another reason for this? Dreaming, daydreaming, building big and small worlds from what we circle around...
The label name leads into the right direction - it has a huge output of music and stands for sounds to relax or to dance to, a good groove. You can find Deep House, Downbeat, Dub, Ambient, Breaks side by side to more hypnotic and deeper stuff. It can be heard on any beach around the beautiful planet or at home to have this relaxed feeling or to make your fantasy goin. Long before the label was launched Kenneth Bager released in '95 a unique, well selected double cd-compilation with the name Music For Dreams, which can be seen as precursor for the later.
There is a strong longlasting connection between Ibiza and Kenneth Bager, the Café Mambo complilations give a good impression of the music he plays in his sets on the island.
The Danish, well known for his legendary work in the early years of techno as Dr Baker ("Kaos", "Turn Up The Music") and as founder of COMA and Flex Records - is the head of this nice label. The smart connection of musicians with different backgrounds, singers and composers, even choirs, is a sign of a creative open mind. In a certain way Bager delivers still peaktime slammer, just nowadays more relaxed ones.
What I like is that Music For Dreams again and again released some surprising tracks going very deep - so you can find optimistic vibes but also more serious music to go into thinking but most with this special liveliness. Just an example: Music is special great if beside the music you can find something more, a story, a sense and if both, musical and this other thing is good you have little stars already. Kenneth Bagers 'Fragments From A Space Cadet': you have a plot: a tragic story of a young couple in love, displayed by sound. 'The Day After Yesterday I' is a emotional ride - serious dance music, played with accoustic instruments... a breathtaking instrumental as opener to this drama in paradise...
But this only one example out of many... its like a dance where you can find it out..
That Laid 'Bakerman' Back appears on Music For Dreams is only another shining bonus because there are many many very good artists to recover on this label, recently I discovered The Swan & The Lake (emotional ambient style).
Music for dreams..
