Profile: | Chilean EMI record company established in Chile in 1927, but operating under the name "EMI Odeon Chilena S.A." since the late 1960s/early 1970s. Previously named Industrias Eléctricas y Musicales Odeon, S.A. EMI Odeon Chilena S.A. It manufactured LPs and also was one of the first Chilean companies to manufacture cassettes in the late 1970s together with Industria De Radio y Televisión, S.A.. In 1977, due to the company's 50th anniversary was released the album Various - Medio Siglo Haciendo Música 1927 - 1977. In 1982 probably to the low sales of vinyl records in Chile and the popularity of the Cassette format, EMI Odeon Chilena S.A. stopped pressing vinyl records (except Singles 7" and promotional records) so the external companies EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. and Industrias Electricas Y Musicales Peruanas S.A. pressed Records to be distributed in Chile by EMI Odeon Chilena S.A.. In 1988 EMI Odeon company released in Chile the first CD recorded by a Chilean group, which was the album "Los Huasos Quincheros - Tiempo De Recordar" recorded by Los Huasos Quincheros. From 1983 to 2000, EMI Odeon Chilena S.A. was the main cassette manufacturer in Chile. In 2004 the company was renamed Emi Music Chile.
