I don't think my love of electro would have been as strong if not fuelled by labels like Cutting, and mavericks such as Aldo & Amado Marin. If you want to visit NY & walk the streets during the 80's, where the sounds of the future had exploded & the world was watching, this is a good place to start...
Classic Freestyle label! They have released countless Freestyle songs which included singers such as Coro, Corina, Exaltation, Giggles, and many more. I always liked the quality of these records in terms of the production and mastering. They all stay on tempo too when mixing (only a real DJ would truly understand and appreciate this).
I'm so honored to know many of the artists very well, including Coro and Arlene. Arlene is a personal friend in fact :)
I'm also happy to own an unreleased acetate of Exaltation's "Heart's Desire" which features incredible multi-edits which cannot be found anywhere. It can't even be found on youtube or in mp3 collections, unlike other acetates. Nobody got this in any format....Nobody. I also have the "regular" acetate of the song too which is always cool. Fact of the matter is, all acetates are one of a kind and special. That can never be disputed.
Most importantly of all, I am thankful to see many of these acts in person as they perform the songs we all love. I'm living a true freestyle lifestyle which is priceless. Freestyle forever!!!!!
Cutting Records has been a large distributor of both latin freestyle, electro and house from the 1980s and into early 1990s. It has showcased numerous artists who defined electronic music within the New York City backdrop. Some of the most prolific artists such Masters At Work, Nitro Deluxe, Giggles, etc. maintained a hugh following in the clubs as a result of Cutting Records' success.
On a personal level I looked forward to collecting some of the best latin freestyle and house pressings from Cutting Records. This label was also graced by the mastering prowess of the infamous Herbie Powers, Jr.
