It seems this label and the retro sublabel are really going from strength to strength with every release. First heard about Sci Wax when I was given Dub One - King Operator at BM Soho to listen to. Copped it immediately and have gotten every release since. Each release is getting harder and harder to buy now though. I remember not too long ago when you could buy most of the back catalog on here for below £10 - £15 (and I wish I did!) but now it seems every single release is sought after and has the price tag to prove it. There are definitely a few here which could do with a repress. I can't see them having any problems with sitting stock.

A great label that really setting the benchmark for quality D&B/Jungle. The quality of processing on the breakbeats is incredible; a far cry from their crusty sampled origins.

However, people are really taking the piss with buying multiple copies of these limited runs, then using that stranglehold to make a massive profit. You guys are making more than the artists, SORT IT OUT.

i love this label, its just such a shame that almost every tune that gets released seems to disappear into the hands of overpriced discogs sellers

What Christian Dior is for fashion is this label for true, characteristic drum n bass.

Everything has been said before by them bassheads under - one of the best things happening to the scene nowadays is this label involving a plethora of top artists guaranteeing quality - Equinox, B-Key, Nolige, Nebula, Dub-One, Breakage. If you know what drum and bass is these days, this is 'nuff said.

Not a single bad release on this label....

Proper hardcore jungle / drum and bass. Always keeping it true to the original sound but also innovating new styles. Lots of choppage and breakage but also some very good rollers and nice/smooth cuts. Can't recommend this label highly enough, pure class from the Equinox & crew. For those pining for the original hardcore amen sound who are sickened by all the two step, sheeny, overproduced crap out there these days then look no further. this is where the dope is.

I wanted to write a comment to this masterpiece of a label since I first heard from it back in 2008. As we have Winter ´10 now you can see that it took some time but better late than never. :) If you dig the essential sounds of DnB then you simply have to check the vinyl and digital releases of this great label. The most interesting thing is the wide musical spectrum of the traditional DnB here. On the one hand you got some epic, steppin´, kind of early 90s jungle, hardcore touched sounds from the man "Nolige". Then you got some deep and mellow rhodes business dipped into some crunchy amen beats from the label head Equinox himself. If you like some twisted, teared-out, chopped amen business combined with some heavy growling subbass then "Dub-One" is your man. Not to forget the rest of the Sci Wax crew "Reactiv", "Nebula" & "D-fect" which also provide this label with fantastical releases. All those artists have one ting in common: Drum & Bass in his traditional and original character. Even if you like this kind of dnb only a little bit, then I give you the clear advice to keep this label in mind. For me Scientific Wax is -besides Bassbin Records & Paradox Music- one of the last "trueschool" labels. Peace!
