Originally set up in 1994 by Tilla Kemal (T-Mirage), Odysee was one of the first imprints to explore a deeper sound that fused Atmospheric Jungle with Techno elements and 70’s Jazz Funk & Film-Noire. Alongside other similar labels of the era such as Fabio’s Creative Source, Bukem’s Good Looking and with DJ support from Kemistry & Storm, Peshay, Fabio & even Goldie, Odysee was an important contributor to what was referred to as the ‘Intelligent’ movement of the mid 90’s. With early releases form iconic artists Source Direct, Mirage and the mighty Photek the label quickly earned a reputation for the quality and versatility of its releases.
The label stopped releasing towards the end of the 90’s, but was relaunched by Tilla and Andy Odysee in 2015. Alongside a series of choice remasters & remixes from the original back catalogue, there is now a steady stream of new material being released including the Iliads series. The trademark sound of the label, its attention to detail on depth of production, the fusion of Jungle & D&B with Techno, avant-guarde & Film Noire soundscapes still likes at the heart of each release. In addition to this, Odysee has attracted some heavyweights for remix duties including Gremlinz & Jesta, Fanu, Homemade Weapons and forthcoming reworks from ASC & Mister Shifter among others.
