I think this project has lasted far too long. It should have died right after Infared Glow. The music is HUGELLY influenced by Mika Vainio's Ø project and especially his Metri album.
The only difference is that Sleeparchive releases are not produced with analog gear. A major difference if u ask me.
At first it seemed cool to have the chance again to listen to something similar to the legendary Metri. Through time though, the releases are getting as dumb and pointless as most of what people wanna call minimal today. It makes you wonder if they actually listen to them before they buy them.
Sleeparchive's first four records are perhaps the most impressive minimal techno releases in recent history. Sleeparchive uses haunting echos, static, bleeps and beeps to produce perfect theme music for space travel or late night driving... Seriously spooky and mysterious stuff! I'm glad that so many of these tracks appear on Hawtin's "DE9 / Transitions". Maybe Sleeparchive's future releases will be more accessable in the United States since he is getting more recognition.
'Bout time someone gives this label the credit it deserves:
all releases are absolutely essential purchases if you like your techno minimal, stripped down and way deep.
The production is so clean and clear, it's scary.
I hear lovers comparing this to old-school Plastikman, and that's a massive compliment, but it's actually still much better than that.
My favorite still is release #1, but I'm playing all releases to death.
A worthy new entry in the minimal Hall of Fame, and a statue in Madame Tussauds to boot!
