They were called the Swampers: Barry Beckett (keyboards), Roger Hawkins (drums), Jimmy Johnson (4) (guitar) and David Hood (bass)
They became known as The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and were the first rhythm section to own a studio and eventually run their own publishing and production companies.

In 1969 Chet Bennett became involved with Muscle Shoals Sound by cutting demos and discs for them. That same year Chet became a writer for Muscle Shoals Sound Publishing [BMI].
