It began in 1979 as an outgrowth of a project studio started by Paul Wickliffe, Skyline's president and chief engineer for sixteen years. Located at 36 West 37th St., it began as a one room 16 track facility and grew into a three room 48 track SSL / Studer facility at the time of its closure in 1994. It was reopened by Jonathan Mover and Ron Allaire but in May, 2010, the Southern Federal District Court of New York ruled against Skyline in a suit brought by software developer Waves. The recording facilities would be the new home of Chung King Studios for a brief period, before becoming Reservoir Studios, Nyc under the direction of Pat Dillett and Steve Salett.
