kdg (KOCH Dureco Group) is a manufacturing company established in 1998 by the merging of Austrian Koch Digitaldisc and Dutch-French Dureco pressing plants. The newly-established kdg took over manufacturing plants in Austria (this profile), France (kdg France), and the Netherlands (kdg-NL). In 2003 a CD/DVD manufacturing plant in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales was purchased from TIB, incorporating the Welsh subsidiary kdg UK Limited. It was announced in early 2006 that this plant was to be sold due to poor performance, and in April it was sold to Lynic (eventually closing in early 2007 as Lynic went into administration).
Matrix identification:
kdg is sometimes identified by its logo in the disc matrix, but can also be identified and credited based on the following combination of matrix information:
Matrix / Runout: ['manufactured by kdg' logo] NNN.NNN or NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN.N [release catalogue# or other variable release-specific information] #N
Mastering SID code: IFPI L171 / L172 / L173 / LP57
Mould SID code: IFPI 30** / 3J** (since ~2019-20)
At minimum, kdg should only be credited when the '#N' glass master ID number and SID code on this page are present. These SID codes alone may appear on discs from other manufacturers, and so kdg should not be credited based solely on SID codes without the 'NNN.NNN' matrix number or '#N' matrix parts.
Notes:
· the 'manufactured by kdg' logo is not always present
· NNN.NNN (suffixed NNN.NNN.L on multi-disc releases) can be entered as the catalogue# for kdg. Early releases have a longer-form number NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN.N - please only enter the first NNN.NNN as the catalogue# for kdg. The following digits are derived from the release catalogue# (see examples).
· The NNN.NNN matrix number is derived from the release catalogue# for Koch International and related releases, due to a shared corporate structure behind the manufacturing plant and releasing label, but can still be entered as the catalogue# for kdg. Non-KOCH/kdg related releases are assigned independent NNN.NNN numbers.
Preferred LCCN role(s):
· Manufactured By - when the 'manufactured by kdg logo' is present in the matrix
· Glass Mastered At - with mastering SID code IFPI L17* or LP57
· Pressed By - with any (or no) mastering SID code and mould SID code IFPI 30**
Example releases where 'kdg' is not named in the matrix, but identified by matrix information:
· with NNN.NNN matrix number: Cody Canada & The Departed - 3
· without matrix number: Antonio Vivaldi - The Four Seasons - Concerto "La Notte" - Concertos "Il Gardellino" & "La Stravaganza"
