Master Cutting Room

Profile:

Defunct mastering and cutting studio in New York (USA), founded in 1971. For the more recent NY studio founded in 2006, please see The Cutting Room.

The Master Cutting Room was initially the mastering arm of Record Plant, N.Y.C. (and located on the same grounds, on West 44th Street in Midtown), with a Neumann VMS-66 lathe and SX-68 cutterhead. Around 1988-1989 MCR became an independent business. By the 1990's MCR (long since independent from the Plant) had moved to West 49th Street, north of Times Square.
