Originally founded in UK in November 1994 by John Perloff & Tsuyoshi Suzuki. They had a sub-label and office in Japan. The label closed in 1999.
It reopened as Matsuri Digital in Japan in 2009, through a partnership with Wakyo Records. They have digitally reissued much of the Matsuri Productions back-catalog.
"Matsuri" (祭り) is a Japanese word denoting a festival, feast or ceremony.
