Headspace Recordings was founded in Cardiff in 1996 by Tom Churchill and Raeph Powell and was described in DJ Magazine as 'one of the world's finest deep techno outlets'. Sister label Emoticon was launched in 2001 to focus on broken beats and abstract electronics. Based in Glasgow from 2002, both labels ceased trading in 2006.

Outstanding, outstanding UK label blazing a seam of quality throughout its 10 year history. It is hard to pull any one specific release to represent the labels best output as almost all hit the mark of top quality. Just look at the artists...... It's like a who's who of the international Neo-Detroit underground. The Mosaic & Bluetrain labels may be the retro flavour of 2015 (deserved, I should say) but to me the sound of my formative techno youth was moulded by Tom Churchill and Headspace. So do yourselves a favour and invest some listening time into this label and purchase the physical copies while you can. They are worthy of a place in all techno lovers' collections.......
