Founded in 1980 by Jerry Greene, Nina Greene & Melissa Greene-Anderson. Mike Stefanik, worked along side Jerry for the pairing of the single release. Collectables is the largest independently-owned reissue record label in the United States. It specializes in the reissue of classic out-of-print recordings of all genres from the vaults of Columbia, Atlantic, RCA, Capitol Records, Polygram, A&M, Island, Motown, Fantasy Records, Tommy Boy, Virgin, and many other labels. There are over 30,000 individual releases on the Collectables Records label, which were available on all popular configurations. One would be hard-pressed to find a genre not represented on the the Collectables label.

Some releases are co-branded with the source label; these can be entered under both labels with the same catalog number. Sometimes the source label is represented by a custom logo in the Collectables' banner-script style (e.g. Epic, Island).
