My first experience with this label is right now, bought the SL2 ''DJ's Take Control" reissue, and it sounded a bit flimsy. I own the original XL release as well but it wasn't playable for public anymore. So I thought, let's have a look, and on the bottom of the page my eye caught the words:
"Mastered from CD"
And that is the fact.. Nice tunes available, that's a plus, fair pricing as well, proper stuff for beginners, but for the trained ear the sound doesn't quite have "it"...
[the frequential rumble-and-tumble which occurs in the bass spectrum where the drum kicks and the bassline enter a chromatic zone, or go into symbiosis, resulting in a deeper, more intense low-sound experience and therefore enhancing the listened]

In 2003 Ian Became Co-Owner Of Suss'd Records And Embarked On a Huge Re-Release Campaign For The Legendary New York Dance Label Salsoul Records With Over 90 Releases In The Last Three Years Of Operation
A truly fantastic label that releases some of the best tunes ever. If you are a DJ starting out S12 gives you a chance to get hold of those hard to get tunes at a decent price...instead of being ripped off by greedy shops and web sites...10/10
I will always search for an S12 release, because they give us the music we love in it's original form i.e a direct copy of original vinyl.
I have yet to hear an S12 vinyl that sounded "bootleggish".
I hope we get more from them.
Some of the best classic house/soul tunes are available on the s12 label, however they are usually mastered from CD therfor the record looses it's original warm wide sound.
A good atempt, but sometimes Simply Vinyl just isnt the best!
If you're serious about you're music, hunt down the originals.
