Studio for musical and intermedia experiments - exists since April 2006 in Garnisongasse 7, in the 9th district of Vienna and is an association since fall 2009. In two years of work, the premises - a store and a large basement - were made usable for artistic productions and small events. The individual areas include a recording studio with a recording room, a workshop, a mastering studio and a lounge with a kitchen. The special thing about this is that many members share their technical production equipment, such as expensive microphones, computers and sound cards, making it available to all, which would be unaffordable for individuals. It is the same with the individual skills. People help each other.
garnison7 is not merely a facility for the technical implementation of ideas, but rather a place for creative work in which collaborations develop, ideas are born and realized. Furthermore, there are three series of events; the Kellerstiege, Velak.Recordings and Oral Office. All this would not be possible without the voluntary work of many and is financially supported by membership fees.
The goals of the association are to support artists by providing them with the opportunity to develop projects and produce them in professional quality, as well as to be an atmospheric venue for concerts and performances and thus also a node on an international map of performance venues for experimental music.
