Embassy records were cover (tribute) versions of current hits produced and manufactured by Oriole Records Limited for F.W. Woolworth & Co.Ltd. from late 1954 until 1965. In 1964 CBS Inc. acquires Oriole Records Ltd. and is renamed CBS Records Limited. with the rights to the imprint initially passing to that company, subsequently CBS Records Limited is renamed CBS United Kingdom Ltd. in 1967, with that company reviving Embassy as a budget reissue label in October 1973, and continued into the mid eighties.
