Paramount Records

Profile:

Paramount Records was a movie soundtrack and pop music label created in January 1969 by conglomerate Gulf+Western Industries, which had purchased Paramount Pictures in 1968. Pop reissues from the Dot Records back catalog, a label that Paramount had owned since 1957, also appeared on this label. In 1971, the label was placed under the administration of its Famous Music (3) music publishing division.

The company's unique reissue imprint was the Famous Twinsets series, which contained two different LPs from one artist in a double album package; it was generally considered a good quality reissue series.

The label ended with the sale of both Paramount and Dot labels to ABC Records in 1974.

Please note: This label includes releases branded Paramount or Paramount Records. Some releases used an alternate version of the classic mountain & stars logo.
