Laser Disc Argentina S.A. is the Argentinian CD replication branch of the Grupo Laser Disc company. CD pressing started in 1994.
Started manufacturing vinyl records in 2016.
CDs made by this plant are often identifiable by the string "L.D.A. - INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA" or "L.D. - INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA" (usually followed by the name of the issuing label) in the matrix string.
Usual matrix pattern on LDA releases:
xxxxx - L.D.A.-INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA - (licensing label) - yyyyy
yyyyy<yyy>L.D.A. MADE IN ARGENTINA (licensing label)-xxxxx
yyyyyyyy/xxxx L.D.A MADE IN ARGENTINA
For DVDs they use six digits instead of five:
xxxxxx - L.D.A.-INDUSTRIA ARGENTINA - (licensing label) - yyyyy
When entering this branch in the LCCN section, just add xxxxx in the catalog number field.
Usual Mastering SID codes: IFPI L701, IFPI L12* (sometime misread as IFPI L15*)
Usual Mould SID codes: IFPI 1R**
Any date prior to 1995 in this label is invalid if there are IFPI codes.
Please note that not all these mastering SID codes belong to Laser Disc Argentina, but may also represent external companies who manufactured glass masters for LDA. LDA should therefore not be credited based only on a mastering SID code when its name is not in the matrix.
Vinyl pressings don't have any direct identifier yet. When entering a recent Argentinean vinyl release, make sure it doesn't have GZ Media identifiers.
