LTM (4)
Profile: | LTM Recordings was founded as Les Temps Modernes in Edinburgh in 1983 by James Nice. Its earliest releases championed the work of Section 25, The Happy Family and Crispy Ambulance, among others. In 1987 the label relocated to Brussels for four years, where Nice also worked for Les Disques du Crepuscule and later PIAS. Nice reactivated the label as LTM in 1997. This new iteration initially focussed on 1980s and 1990s CD reissues often related to the recently bankrupt Factory and its European cousin Les Disques Du Crépuscule. It has since broadened its remit to cover more varied new wave, electronic and post punk artists, as well as new recordings and DVDs. In 2008 the compilation series Auteur Labels was launched, with volumes on New Hormones, Crepuscule, Factory, Factory Benelux, Independent Project and Object Music. An interest in 20th century experimental artists has also led to LTM publishing audio works from the likes of Erik Satie, Wyndham Lewis, Marcel Duchamp and William S. Burroughs alongside Futurist, Dada, Surrealist, Bauhaus and De Stijl compilations. The Boutique Label is a sub-division of LTM. |
