Allentown Record Co. Inc.

Profile:

Defunct pressing plant in Allentown, Pennsylvania that was active from 1947 and closed by 1982. Specialists in Long Play Microgroove, 45 and 78 RPM pressings. Complete servicing: dubbing from tape or instantaneous master, metal processing, labels, art works etc. The company was owned by Sanford L. "Sandy" Wartell until 1972.

Vinyl pressed at this plant can usually be identified by the letters "ARC", "AL" or "ALT" lightly etched in the run-out areas, and very often the stamper processing date immediately follows it. Look for these in the area that directly precedes the primary matrix etching.
.
The diameter of the pressing ring found on the labels is just a fraction under 2¾" (ca. 69,50mm)

ARC was a wholly owned subsidiary of Viewlex, Inc. (together with the three other pressing plants Sonic Recording Products, Inc., American Record Pressing Co., and Monarch Record Mfg. Co..)
