Technicolor, Australia

Profile:

This profile refers to optical disc manufacturing plants in Australia, active under the name Technicolor from 2002-22.

Technicolor had invested significantly into Southern Star Duplitek (SSD), a disc manufacturer located in Sydney, in August 2000. This allowed SSD to acquire rival disc manufacturer PMI, located in Melbourne, and gave Technicolor to option to take 100% ownership of SSD at a later date. In April 2002, it was announced that Technicolor had exercised this option, acquiring full ownership of SSD from parent company Southern Star Group Ltd. The manufacturing plants in Melbourne and Sydney were then rebranded Technicolor.

It was announced on 27 September 2022 that some of Technicolor's activities, including the disc manufacturing plant in Melbourne, would continue under the new name Vantiva. (The plant in Sydney appears to have been closed sometime before this.) For releases manufactured/released after this time which no longer name Technicolor in the matrix, please credit Vantiva, Melbourne, Australia.
