On August 17, 1982, the world's first mass production of Compact Discs began in Langenhagen.
Renamed to PDO, Germany in January 1986, to PRS Hannover in October 1991, and to PMDC, Germany in January 1993.
In March 1999 renamed to Universal M & L, Germany and finally to EDC, Germany in June 2005.
Usually printed on artwork as: "CD is manufactured by PolyGram in Hannover, West Germany." or "CD is manufactured by PolyGram, Hannover, West Germany."
The text is often not removed on a repress by one of the successors.

A PolyGram CD pressing is often represented in the CD matrix by a serial number—usually after the catalog number—formatted like "XXXX XXX YY", e.g. 2895 901 01 (see Frank Zappa - Does Humor Belong In Music?, Sandra - Mirrors, Mike Oldfield - Crises) or "XXXXXXX YY" (in 1982 and early 1983). Enter only the XXXX XXX and XXXXXXX as label catalog number; the YY is variable (probably stamper #).

Note: Do not use this plant when one of the successors is mentioned on the release!
