- Is there a reason why the discography ends here in 1997? I purchased several CDs from this label in 2022 and continue to receive new release news.
- Edited 4 years agoDoes anyone have an opinion / experience to share regarding the quality of the reissues manufactured by this label ?
I see they reissued 3 x Carolyne Mas last year - excellent idea - and I was about to purchase until I realized it's the same label that reissued "Shandi" in 2013.
Considering the very bad quality of the Shandi CD, I decided not to purchase the Carolyne Mas CD's as I suspect they are lame vinyl transfers with no mastering and no liner notes.
My suspicions were correct! After downloading a few WAV-songs from Spotify (made available there by RR), and editing the files, the sound quality is absolutely crap quality.
When I purchased Shandi Sinnamon "First time on CD" issued by Renaissance Records back in 2013 directly from the label (rather expensive back then), I was so excited that this little "Benatarian" rock-gem was eventually reissued on CD that I threw away my own vinyl transfer to CD that sounded perfect. What did I get in return ? I received a lame vinyl transfer, with pops and clicks, no remastering at all, no transfer from the original studio bands. My own vinyl transfer sounded way better than this.
There are no liner notes either, just the basic LP artwork.
I would not recommend to anyone to buy this Shandi CD: stick to your own vinyl copy or get one in M/M vinyl condition - it's a beautiful colorful LP - and have it transferred by a friend who will put a heart into it. This is a great album by the way. It's beyond me this has not been released by a "real" label yet: After all this was produced by Commander Chapman : he deserves way better than this. And so does Miss Sinnamon.
I would not recommend to buy Carolyne Mas either. She deserves much better than this. Stick to the existing compilations or buy directly from her website, she has all this stuff in good quality.
So, does anybody else have an opinion / experience to share regarding the quality of the reissues manufactured by this label ? Because from my point of view, it’s a very bad label and I don’t feel like buying anything at all from them! (anymore)
