After raising more than just a few eyebrows with the colossal "From The Far Future Part 2" on Tresor last year, plus a string of extremely high quality twelve inchers, Terrence Dixon has - justifiably - earned some long time due respect and gained a little more space under the spot light. As the next logical step in the creative process, we are presented to his brand spanking new label: Reduction!

The freshman release, "The Rewriting Of An Expression Into A Simpler Form", offers a vision of techno music getting skinned and the flesh dried out under the incendiary sun rays, metaphorically said that is. Dixon's ultra minimalist approach shines through once again, combining restrained flat-line passages with subdued funk elements. Boy it sure works!

Judging by the debut release, this should be an extremely interesting label, aimed at the more challenging and abstract nature of Dixon's avant-garde approach to Detroit techno. It may not be as likable and versatile as his recent album on Tresor records, but for mono enthusiasts and minimal addicts, as well as more open minded techno listeners, this should be an imprint to "bookmark".

P.S.: At the time of writing this, there are rumors of a new Dixon live show & set-up in the pipe line, but it is not going to happen in another year or two. Keeping my fingers crossed here!
