Waxwork Records is a New Orleans based record label specializing in the release of classic cinema, horror, cult, and sci-fi film scores in the highest quality LP packages available. Waxwork revisits the original source master tapes for every release. Often times, these original masters are thought to have been lost, even destroyed, for decades. The master tapes are tracked down by the label, re-mixed, and re-mastered by former White Zombie guitarist Jay Yuenger. All Waxwork titles are pressed to 180 gram audiophile grade vinyl and housed in heavy old style casebound tip-on jackets.
Each release features newly commissioned full package artwork and design including liner notes from the film directors and composers.

"Packaging on this release is excellent, really great work on artwork and quality of jacket. Audio sourcing, and mastering was done really well, with great dynamics, and a proper, sequential track list. Color variant looks great, and I really like the theme here. The discs themselves, however, have a lot of light scuffs right out of the package, and most all sides play with regular light pops, and the noise-floor of well-played VG/VG+ LP. As always, great packaging, and audio sourcing, but again, marred by careless handling/packaging from the plant/company"
And there we go, I think I can apply that to all of the Waxwork releases I have.
Seriously though, it's frustrating. Many of us LOVE a good music Score, and WW puts out, obviously a ton of great soundtracks and scores. And they always make stuff, that while it may not be my favorite, is really thoughtful, and detailed in every way but the actual quality of the discs. I don't know what they do with their discs after they are pressed, but I imagine a long shuffleboard table, one person on one end with the inner-sleeve, and another on the other side to slide the disc across the table into the sleeve.
Time after time after time after...Quality Control that needs a serious upgrade :(
It's been said before, but when you start buying soundtracks first and foremost because of the label rather than the films themselves, that company is doing something humongous right. I really can't be doing with all the Friday the 13th sequels, but if I see one of Waxwork's exquisitely tooled gatefolds on sale, I'll probably end up buying it. And they sound wonderful.
Their products are pricey but they do deliver on quality, these are records for playing as well as looking at. Other soundtrack labels such as Mondo and Invada should take a leaf out of their book...
Beautiful releases. I kinda wish they had a wider catalog.
A little caveat: products are not super protected. I received one with a slightly damaged sleeve (thankfully it's pretty minor and in a place not too visible)
This is the label that got me hooked on horror scores/soundtracks.Attention to detail is amazing and everything is high quality.Rumor has it that every Friday the 13th soundtrack will be released eventually.Just take my money!
Every release is so beautiful and on point that I have to pick up everything they do, regardless of whether or not I've seen the film. I have yet to buy a Waxwork release that doesn't have great music on it, and it just so happens they release soundtracks to some of my favorite movies. Top notch label, best customer service around, and absolutely never disappointed.
The releases that Waxwork are putting out are what started me collecting vinyl! Beautiful packages, artwork, sound, and style!!! I own every release now and plan on purchasing every one in the future!
Gems include: Taxi Driver, Rosemary's Baby, Nosferatu, Krampus, Black Christmas, and any of the Friday the 13th releases. Yes, they are all that good!!!
Clearly the new king in town when it comes to releasing soundtrack from horror and cult movies. Although I not up in arms about everything they release their attention to detail and customer service is beyond compare.
