Dixie Record Pressing Inc.

Profile:

A record pressing company that operated in Tennessee from 1968 until 2000. In 1970, it reportedly became one of the first plants in the US to implement a fully automatic manufacturing process when it incorporated machinery designed by Southern Machine & Tool Corp. with its Hamilton Press (its operations were also reportedly exclusive to 12"-sized pressings).
In 1984, as part of a refurbishment, Dixie sold several of their Hamilton and Lened presses to Derek Ropiak (Apexton Records), who installed them in his pressing plant Arston in Poland.
Since installing new presses in 1984, Dixie pressing rings on 12" records are always 29 + 70mm.

Upon closing, its presses were subsequently acquired by the United Record Pressing company.

In some instances, records pressed by Dixie may be identified by a unique, sequential alpha-numeric identifier 'DRP-####' etched into the runout grooves. In such instances, the 'DRP-####' sequence may be entered in the corresponding catalog number field(s).

Dixie pressed for all major Chicago house labels, notably for DJ International / Underground and Cajual, between 1986 and 1991.
